My goal is not to fix you, analyze you, or advise you. My goal is to help you gain a better understanding of yourself, your beliefs, and your automatic responses. Humans are products of our natural instincts combined with the influence of other people in our lives and the environments in which we have lived. We are part Nature, part Nurture. We each exhibit a unique personality that is defined and continually redefined by these internal and external factors, often without our awareness of how or why, and despite whether or not we approve.
I believe you can take ownership of this process and learn to identify how you make meaning in your life. Your ingrained behaviors, responses, and perspectives all stem from the way you process and store experiences and information, both consciously and unconsciously. When you become aware of your reasons and reactions (a.k.a. mindfulness), you can take command of the influences in your life. You gain choice. You become empowered.
How do we go about this? It starts with being honest and tuning in, even when that feels hard to do. We begin the work by listening to our breath and feeling into our nervous system, by allowing our emotions and accepting our histories. We foster connection in our lives -- to ourselves, to nature, and to each other.
I use modalities such as integrative psychotherapy, somatic movement, resiliency building, and meaningful connection to others. We will sit face to face and talk about you and your life, and work together to make it more manageable.
